1998 Durango LSD Question(s)

HD Tow package, LSD, FT4WD option.

The car has 150K miles and the previous owner had the LSD rebuilt during his ownership. After I bought it @75K I had to have the rear end rebuilt again at around 100K.

Now at 150K the rear is making noise AGAIN!!!!

What can I do to fix this haunted LSD??? I want to fix it the LAST time and if it means after market upgrades then so be it.

Question: What are my options?

Thanks,

Robert

Clutch-type limited slips wear out. There is nothing strange about your problem. The more city driving you do, the fast it wears out. Now you just need to ask yourself how many more miles you will be keeping the truck. If every 50k miles is ok with you, then rebuild what is in it. Another option is to either swap in an open differential or a detroit true trac. The true trac does not have clutches to wear out.
