98 2WD off road

My Dad has a bone stock (stock tires even) 2WD 98 ram with 24V cummings and manual transmision. He is thinking of trading it in for a 4wd because every time he goes out in the fields it get's stuck. Our 2wd open diff'ed 78 chevy with sears special tires did not have this problem. What can I reccomend short of a 4WD swap? I'm afraid he might not stick with dodge if he trades it in.

Re: 98 2WD off road

Sell the 2wd Ram and buy a 4x4 Ram. There's so much work involved in swapping in the 4x4 components it wouldn't be worth it.

If he sells his Dodge and doesn't buy a 4x4 Dodge, he's just cheating himself. There are plenty of older 4x4's that are great trucks, but nothing new is worth it unless it's a Dodge 4x4. 4x4 IFS sucks.
