Dodge towing rig

Right now I have a regular cab Ram 4x4 with the off road package ( 4.11 gears and towing package). I plan to be trailering my Zuk on a 14x6 trailer. The trailer has a steel floor and at the moment dual #3500 axles. My question is will my truck be a usable tow rig for what I plan on pulling or would the same truck except quad cab (lwb frame) be better? Right now I have no trailer brakes, and a bent axle, but I am getting new axles soon with brakes. Thanks for an opinion from someone that knows. JCC

Re: Dodge towing rig

How much does the total towing setup weigh? Sammy + trailer + tools + parts + blah blah. If it's under 6,000lbs you should be able to tow, AND STOP (people always forget that) it fine. 6,000lbs and up, and a 3/4 ton would probably be a better bet.

Re: Dodge towing rig

i'm not going to get into whether it's safe or not, but WILL on the jeep forum towed his CJ to Disney on a big tandem axle trailer with an older Dodge 318 auto truck and kept 60mph except on big hills. a late model 360 truck with 4.10's pulling a Zuk should have no problem unless that trailer is made to haul dozers if you flat-towed the Zuk with a tow bar, I doubt you'd even notice it was back there

Re: Dodge towing rig

I have been considering trading for a Ram quadcab. All I can afford right now is a 1500.I think for now I'll just keep my regular cab and wait till I can afford a 2500 with a ctd. Also after I get new trailer axles I will load up and go to my wifes work, they have a scale their. JCC
