B/RB 4X4

What does it take to convert a s/b tranny/x-fer for use with a big block? It would seem like I could use the output shaft & tail off of a s/b 4x4 on one of my big block 727's, and I could mate it to the x-fer.Any thoughts?

I am kicking around an engine swap in my Jeepster to replace the factory v6. I have a coupla 383's and a 440, and the measurements look like I could make it work. But factory big block 4x4's seem pretty rare for me to find and scavange swap parts.

Re: B/RB 4X4

you are correct / just swap out the tail shaft and housing to the RB case / the truck manifolds will be hard to find / I,ve seen them on E-bay for $350 / that or use two right side mid-70,s manifolds[new yorker]/ the shortest mounts are mid-70,s full size[new yorker] /

Re: B/RB 4X4

Thanks for the info. I have some '77 400 cordoba manifolds that even worke in a 440 dart with minor clearencing so that is what I will try. I am trying to put it in a '71 Jeepster commando, so wish me luck
