89\' dodge 2500 4x4 diesel for snow plow,any opion?

hey
a couple of my buddies just bought an 89 diesel 2500
for plowing snow in a small business type deal, three speed auto. What do they need to know about this truck. I have a good knowledge of diesels but have never owned on, only wrenched on a few. these guys are total greenhorns to diesels.

any thoughts are welcomed?

Best place for Dodge Cummins diesel info is http://www.turbodieselregister.com/. You can lurk for free or pay $35/yr for membership and get a great quarterly magazine too. Money well spent, no doubt about it.

It will be fine for plowing but as with all automatics while plowing snow escepially parking lots theres the need to keep the tranny fluid cool with adding an auxilary cooler. From the factory it could have came with the snow plow prep package which has the extra cooler and heavy duty transfercase and springs but since its a diesel it usually comes with that anyway.

if its any help, ive got the 2001 deisel {5.9} 2500 and it plows like a raped ape ! i had an 8.5 western installed on it and never had trouble till now, the power steering pump is on its way to the scrap heap>> its fine till you pick up the plow then it cant turn the wheels standing still and is noisy.
