Transmission Problems

I recently purchased a 90 R/C, to replace my 82, which went into retirement and has become a parts donor.
The '90 has 120,000 mi. I'm concerned about eratic shifting, doesn't always go into 1st gear when you stop, is very slow to go into gear when cold and I don't think the torque converter is locking up as it should. Any ideas?
How different is the old 3-speed, versus the 4-speed? Is a swap possible?

Re: Transmission Problems

the governer in the tail section could be sticking or the kick down linkage or valve could be sticking.take a line presher reading
at the governer port if line presher stays to high as the road speed drops it will not down shift or do it to slowly.refer to a factory
dodge service manual it explains it well. Also you can swap a 3 speed 727 for the 4speed 518 y0u have now it is a more relieable
trans, the overdrive planetary gear set in the 518 fails often.it was a great idea just built to light.call me if you need any futher
help...///GT,301-933-5277,any time,I'm retired
