86 Ramcharger engine swap

I have an 86 Ramcharger with a 318 V8 2bbl. I found a 383 V8 that I can rebuild and put in my truck with a 4bbl. is this a good idea? I've been doing some research and I have'nt heard of anyone doing this. I've only had this truck for about a month and I dont know to much about them yet. It runs real good right now but it smokes a bit when I crank it up. I had an S-10 4x4 Blazer with a 2.8 V6 but I wanted more power so I got the Ramcharger but I still would like more power.
