Turned up diesel

I just picked up my new 1996 2500 diesel with a manual. The seller bought the truck already hopped up so he doesn't know what was done to it. He was guessing that it was making around 300hp. I know that the new 2003 truck that I drove w/300hp didn't have nearly this much power. When I was pulling away from the toll boths with my S-10 Blazer, I'd baby first and then lay into the throttle when in second. If I got into the throttle right away in second, the tires would break loose. When starting out unloaded, I'll use second gear. If I'm not carfull, the tires will break loose with a good squeel. Made that mistake with a cop just a couple of feet away from me. The engine pulls just over 2,000 rpms @ 70mph so I assume the gear ratio is shallow. Whats your guess? 3.54 gears? Anyways, I was wondering if there is any way I can figure out what was modified and how much power I'm making?

Re: Turned up diesel

Check the sticker on the bottom of the hood behind the grill. If it's there, it'll have your gear ratio on it, along with the other main drivetrain/power train info.
