I gotta Ram, I gotta Ram, I gotta Ram!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, she's mine. I just brought MY new-to-me 99 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport 4x4. 360 with auto (try finding a 318 and stick in Michigan). It's that dark green with the grey cloth interior. Single cab shortbed, fully loaded, power everything, tilt, cruise, even the trailering package, etc etc etc. It even has the little key ring remote door unlocker thingy. Thing is absolutely mint, 32300 miles, runs like a top, the engine bay is as clean as the day it came off the factory floor, and the interior is spotless, even still smells new. It was a 3 year lease that was just returned recently. I got it through a guy who buys at auctions for a price I am VERY happy with.

Only downsides are that it has no sliding rear window, 3.55's, and no limited slip. The sliding rear window I can put in myself, apparently anything but 3.55's is super rare in 1500's, and the limited slip is rather rare around here. I live about 20 minutes away from www.DriveTrainSpecialists.com's custom shop, so I think I have that handled. Nothing I'm upset about at all.

Well, I'm gonna go drive it around some just to do it. I get 14.5mpg. At least that's what the little driver information thingy on the roof tells me. Wow, never had one of those before.

Who makes good nerf bars for these things?

CONGRATULATIONS!

i hear a company called "Millermatic Welded Square Tubing" makes a pretty good nerf bar, if that's what you mean

ok... time to lift that bitch, there's some 42" TSLs in the local paper, you want their number?

Re: I gotta Ram, I gotta Ram, I gotta Ram!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hahaha, thanks everybody.

Just put 30 miles on it tooling around the side roads, main roads, and back roads of my area. I like that I have to relearn how a SFA rides.

Only things resembling nerf bars to ever end up on it would more properly be described as rock bars.

Thinking some general purpose stuff first. BIG ASS automatic tranny cooler, putting my Pioneer CD head unit in it, switching all the fluids over to synthetic, something with the air intake (K&N drop in or a system, but dunno, have to do some research), front Class III receiver hitch, eventually a 3" high flow custom bent exhaust, blah blah blah..... Oh yeah, ditching these 265/75R16 Goodyear RT/S tires for something with a bit more aggressive tread. Probably stay the same size though, these 3.55's wouldn't like 33's, I would like to keep the gas mileage around the 14.5mpg it says it gets now.

And and and and and and and.........

Re: I gotta Ram, its ABOUT TIME!

Cheapest lift is a 2" coil spacer which helps clear the 33" wider tires, as for gas mileage a 33 won't be bad but it might look bad since the speedometer will be off a 1/10 mile, so every 10 miles on the odometer is actually 11 miles. To check just go down the highway and find the measured mile and reset the odometers trip button to get it exactly!
When I had 42's with 4:10's it was off 3/10ths of a mile and 38's were 2/10ths!
Good luck and if your going to beat it up I would suggest an extended warranty for peace of mind!

Re: I gotta Ram, I gotta Ram, I gotta Ram!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pictures are coming, I don't have a digital and it was dark last night before I even thought to take any. Hell, it was getting dark when we went to pick it up.

When I spend the money on the lift I'm doing it right, all coils and leafs, get rid of the rear block, longer control arms, etc etc etc. I will also regear and run the 33's then. I can wait. Right now with flight training and all that going on, I need as good of gas mileage as I can get. The 265's stay.

Warranty, who said anything about a warranty?

Re: I gotta Ram, I gotta Ram, I gotta Ram!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The skyjacker links are only about 1" longer than stock max and for regearing you can only go up to 4:56 ring and pinion unless they made a 4:88 but I doubt it. For lifts the dick cepic kit has the longest arms for improved articulation and ride quality. MOPAR TO YA!!!!!!

Re: I gotta Ram, I gotta Ram, I gotta Ram!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only want 3" of lift, 4.10's, and 33's. As stated earlier, I don't need more than that for around here and daily driving. Big tires are kinda silly for daily driving.

I didn't own it 24 hours before it was coated in mud. Spent several hours on the local two tracks and trails. Despite the 265 Wrangler RT/S's and open diffs, it did quite well. Only one pucker moment with a tree.
