Ramcharger hubs

I have a 83 Ramcharger that has auto hubs, I have never had a vehicle with autos on it and I am a bit confused. When I jack the front end up, tranmission and transfer in neutral I can rotate the shaft and the wheel turns backward, when I turn the shaft the other direction the hubs disengage. This seems very abnormal to me, are the hubs the same for both sides or is there a left and a right? thanks

Re: Ramcharger hubs

The manual hubs should be the same so no left or right that I know of and even some hub bearings on the newer rams. The tire will spin backwards if you spin the shaft in reverse or theres a limited slip or open diff in the axle which could spin it different directions. A locker or posi will spin the same way and even some l/s will...
