Oil Coolers

I have a '98 1500 with the 318 V8. I am running 33x12.50 tires on it and am buying a boat. The total weight will be about 3300 lbs (both boat and trailer). I want to run an oil cooler, but would like some info. Has anybody run one? what brand is best if any?

Re: Oil Coolers

I'm guessing a tranny oil cooler? I bought one from an auto parts store that is 3/4 thick by about 8"x 14" maybe and I put it in front of the radiator toward the bumper and put the plastic fasteners thru. Be carefull, my buddy helped and stabbed my condenser so now no a/c. I read an article in the 4x4 mag that the motor oil coolers don't make a difference practically at all and they used a fan assist! If you have an automatic then definately get a tranny fluid cooler, bigger is better. I kept my factory coolers in place and just added one extra because my 2500's tranny overheats when plowing. I even put on an aluminum finned tranny pan with not much difference...
