dodge questions

ok im a chevy guy so im prolly gunna ask some stupid questions i looked at a 87 dodge 1/2 ton 4wd i was wondering how is a 318? is it a reliable engine?hows the touque and hp? second wuts in it for gears, front axle, and tranny? i have a 360 should i drop it in ? im not sure if im gunna buy this truck its only 500 and body is in decent shape but above the front windo it is all messed up they guy put foam in there cus it was leaking but it rusted and expanded ( looks like [censored] now) let me know wut u think thanks

Yes the 318 is a great motor and is reliable, I know of a few over 300,000, mine had 215,000 when the rear main seal blew out from my own fault for not installing new gaskets when it was out, put it in with 179,000. It ran great with good power still. They have around 230 horsepower.

Personally I am very picky about what I drive and I love Dodges. I do 90% of the work myself and can say that Dodge builds their trucks a lot better than other companies. Look at simple things like the door hinges. Dodge uses beefy metal hinges and Ford uses plastic ones. My truck has the 318 and I have out-pulled a number of fords of the same class.
