side mirrors

a buddy of mine has a 97 dodge ram. he is having some problems with his side mirrors. they lost all their ridgity. he will be traveling down the road at 40 mph and his mirrors will rotate against the door. any ideas on how to stiffen them back up. any info would be great.

Re: side mirrors

Hey Guys, it's been a while but I'm still around.
I had the same problem with my 97, I went to the dealer and got a set of the plastic mirrors for a 2000. The bolt pattern is the same and the mirrors are a lot better quality. I think they were about 150 a piece. Other than that, I tried everything with mine and nothing would work. The internal bracketry for the stock mirrors is plastic with 4 screws tapped into it. They strip out and are wasted from then on.

Re: side mirrors

How about super glue or silicone caulking?
