alternator

I read an article in Car Craft Sept 01 about using (please forgive me) a GM CS series alternator to replace the “lazy” stock type. What years and models had CS alternator? They did not say in the article. Yes I know a GM part on a Dodge is bad but if works I say go for it.

Re: alternator

the GM CS serises alternator is a piece of $hit in the 4rd degree. We discussed this over on the Jeep Short wheel base board 2 days ago. Look under topic "dumb alternator questions" posted by me, and read the response by "TeamRush." He outlines it all.

To answer your question, the GM CS Alternator came on nearly everything GM in the 80s...maybe the late 70s, possible early 90s too. Probably the most common alternator out there. As far as whatever you mean by "lazy" my 98 Ram came factory (HD package) with a 136 amp alternator....you can damn near weld with it. I wouldnt call that lazy....
