3/4 ton diesel Transmission rebuild

I have a 92 Dodge 3/4 Cummins 5spd 4wd. I think the transmission was first wounded when the rearend locked up on the highway and a while later it quit. I finally got it into 4th and had to hold it there all the way home for 60 miles. Now it won't go into any gear. I haven't taken it apart yet but are they usually worth rebuilding and is it fairly easy? Again I don't know exactly how bad it is but a replacement costs big bucks, so I was wondering how to tell if it's rebuildable or not and where to get a kit.

Re: 3/4 ton diesel Transmission rebuild

I would ask a tranny shop personally for expert advice. To save money pull it out and have them do it and put it back in.
Theres an article in the latest 4x4 mag on rebuilding one...
