D60 rear disc brake conversion...

Help..!...

Using a 1981 D60 FF rear axle (30 spline) for my FunBuggy project:

What is the best way to get to a rear disc brake setup for this rear axle? I don't care about an E-brake..

Anyone done this?!?

Marv

Make your own is the cheapest. Use Cadillak capipers for e-brake of std 3/4 chevy capipers for no E-Brake.

I have done it and all the parts and pictures are on my web site

Well it is not as much of a daily as it use to be anymore. More of a week end ride now since I did that and more compression. The solid cam can be street driven with out a problem. Right now it is apart getting a little more lift and bigger rubber, but it is still going to get driven on the road!!

So what size tire are you going up to and with how much lift? 39.5 boggers or 44's :-) big money!

39.5x18 boggers, will end up with about 10" total lift

Hmmm, don't know, the whole Rockcrawler web seems to be down, that is where it is hosted from.

Re: D60 rear disc brake conversion...

M_M,
I checked out your site on the disk brakes, and it's awesome. How did you figure out what rotors would fit on everything, what was the process of finding that out? From the discussion of the rear disk brakes over on the RCC board, it's got me really interested in doing this to a 9¼. Any ideas on how to figure out what rotors would slip over the 5 on 5½ pattern so that the setup could be homegrown like yours?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: D60 rear disc brake conversion...

I haven't ever messed with the 9-1/4. But I would guess they are using some sort of dodge front rotor. Best way is to call TSM and ask them what rotors they are using and what calipers. I believe that they will tell you and just sell the brakets seperate, you can then make your own brakets to fit the parts.
