`99 Ram 5.2L - No spark - HELP please

My brother has a `99 Ram with the 318. The truck ran fine the other day, sat without being started yesterday, now today it won't start. He did a spark test and it's not firing - at all.

I've never worked on a Dodge and haven't really even looked at his engine. From my experience with Chevys, I told him it's probably a defective ignition coil.

What's the coil setup like on this engine (coil on/in cap, mounted on engine, firewall, etc)? Is there a coil wire?

Diagnostic tests to run?

Does the coil sound like the culprit here or is it something simpler (coil wire), or more complex (ECM / PCM)?

The warranty on the truck is done and gone and he's unemployed... so minimal expense is desirable.
