\'87 KX 125

I have an '87 KX 125 and two years ago it blew a seal which let water into the engine and it hydro locked. The ring grove got crushed onto the ring and the cylinder wall got pretty messed up.

My dilema is whether or not to spend the money to get the engine fixed. I'm guessing around $350 for piston, ring, resleve kit and labor. The thing is... if I spend the money on rebuilding the engine, I'd put more into the rest of it. First, not much aftermarcket stuff is available that I've seen and I don't know if the bike is worth it.

What do you guys think?

Thanks
pete

That is one of the hardest questions......

How long have you had the bike??

are you happy with the 125's power??

Do you have the $$ to fix it, or do you have the money just to toss it and buy another bike??

Its possible that the rod and crank wern't to happy when the motor hydro'd and they might want some money too...

Re: \'87 KX 125

lol... well, i've had the bike for 3 years and for 95% of that time it's been broken. I've only ridden it once or twice on the street but I think it may be a good bike to learn on. I can come up with the money eventually and the reason as to not get a new one would be because if I spill a lot then I'm not ruining a nice bike. As for power I don't know... I'm 150lbs. and don't know whether that would be enough for free style. any other advise?

thanks
pete
