1980 Yamaha IT 125

Found a it 1980 Yamaha It 125 on the net for sale, are these bikes 2-stroke or 4-stroke? I'm at school right now and want something to f#$% around with during the year till I get home. Would this be a good beginner bike? Worth the $250 (no seat or CDI, but basically complete other than that) I have a '84 KTM 125 MX waitin for me at home, will I be able to tell a difference.

no, is the bike good enough (performance wise) for me to buy it for $250. I'm a beginner so I don't need something off the wall.

Save your $$ and get somthing that run's!

You would spent over $700 total just to get that running BECAUSE I bet there is more than just a "few" things wrong with it.

So DON'T get it.... unless your one of the suckers born every second

Re: 1980 Yamaha IT 125

The only thing wrong with it was a bad cylinder head. Got a good used one off of E-Bay for $45, and a new piston set off of E-bay for $50. Took awhile to find the cylinder but a new cylinder woulda cost like $600 or something outrageous like that (according to dealer) Also got a entirely separate motor off of E-bay that runs for $130. E-Bay is great stuff.
