shifter and shaft?

on my friends dads kx125 we have to drill the shifter off. if the shaft is hit at all by the drill will this destroy it? the screw extractor broke and were stuck with doing this

BLOW THEM ALL UP AND LET ALLAH FIGURE IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Die towl heads!!!!!!!!

JUST DRILL ON THE BROKEN BOLT ONLY AND YOU SHOULD BE OK, THE SHAFT HAS A GROOVE IN IT WHERE THE BOLT GOES(SHAFT IS INDENTED IN A SENSE) SO THE SHAFT CANT SLIP OFF WHEN LOOSE, THE BOLT HAS TYO COME COMPLETELY OUT FOR THE SHIFTER TO COME OFF.

we already tryed that and the bold extrator snapped and we couldnt get it out
