my xr is smokin like a bastard and im afraid the next cuple times i go to the sandpit it wil blow and cost a fotuion. i saw how a xr600 engine came apart and im now startin to wonder if i would be capable of installing rings on it. would the cylider need to be honed out? also isnt their a specal tool used to install rings? thanks
XRman, It's always best to hone a little when installing rings. Yes, like Kyron says, you can install the rings by hand. Just be very careful. The most difficult part will be the cam and chain. Good luck.
SELL IT! DON'T BE LIKE ME AND FACK UP HARD CORE!! Seriously, four strokes are money pits when you take them apart, it isn't only goin to be the rings, it will be hone job, valves, have to get the valves installed, cam chain will need to be adjusted(unless you can do it) and they are gonna tell you that you need a new fagin piston or some dumb crap like that.
