wanna hear my story

Yea in Febuary I purchased a 1990 CR 125. I thought That I was playing it smart buying a bike from a bike mechanic and all. He claimed that he had just cahnged the piston about 1 month before a bought it. He had the tranny rebuilt about a year ago. He said he rebuilt the whole front end shock and doesnt even have one ride on it. So hear im thinking I got a pretty good buy. WRONG!!!!!! WORST mistake I ever made. 4 months after a got the bike seals went! So I had the whole front end rebuilt for 200$. I said ok fine So he lied maybe. A week after I got the bike back from the shop Clutch went. I was like ok FINE 80$ I get the clutch fixed a month later piston went. I havnt really done much riding in the past month because been fixing it. I was like Ok The GOD DAMN MECHANIC I bought it off of is a god damn lier! Ok so I get the piston changed. So now im thinking.. OK new Piston new Clucth new front end were set to go. I broke in the piston more then enough....I broke it in all day saterday just going braa braa braa around my house no screaming. So next day we are going out and I go braa braa bra around for about an hour of trail riding and then this grraaa graa graa graa graa sound coming out of the tranny and a sevre loss of power. I got home just barley and took it all apart. Im thinking maybe I didnt break it in enough. Ring and piston are FINE Tranny problem. I was so pissed that every week I got to but 100$ into this piece of SH(T!! I ddint touch the bike for like 2.5 months I was to pissed to touch it. I took it to the shop finnally about 2 weeks ago. I called him today and he said um We found whats wrong with it. I not going to sit hear and right everything becasue its just a little to long....I went down there today cause he said you should come in hear and look at it. So i went downt there and everything is gone stripped cracked torn you name it. QUESS HOW MUCH IT COSTS!!!!????

This mechanic you bought it from; it isn't the same guy you took it back to?

Re: wanna hear my story

That sucks bro. It always risky buying a used bike. ESPECIALLY a well used 125. Those things are made to scream. Parts get heavily abused.
By the way, when you bought the bike from this "mechanic" did you see receiplts for all the work he said he did??

Re: wanna hear my story

Unfortunately bro all the things you do to an "old" bike don't add up to much during resale. Ofcourse it will enable you to sell it easier, but as far as getting out what you put in....? I have the same deal with my 92'YZ250. The bike rips and it is in great condition but it's still a 92' ya know. Check out some other classifieds and see what bikes similar to yours are going for. I'd say around 1100$ to start. But be prepared to be talked down. so start a little higher than what you want.
Good Luck!!

Re: wanna hear my story

Other than the bad taste of getting ripped are you happy with the bike? If so then keep it and get some use out of the money you dumped into it. What else can go wrong with it now?

Re: wanna hear my story

Chubby has a good point... how happy would you be ridding that for another 3+ years?? Hows the radatiors, and other stuff like that??

cause if you look at it like if you sold it for $500 and then add to that the $1400 (you would have spent) you almost have $2,000..... what kinda bike can you buy in that price range THAT won't be a POS ??

So I guess you now know now to give a dirt bike a better test ride??

Re: wanna hear my story

MY bike was 48 for oil, 50 for seals and like 75 for labor, or i could have done them but i would have had to buy the special tool from yam for like 75 so i let them have fun and do it.

When in doubt, GAS IT
