Engine troubles Suzuki RM 125

I don't actually have the bike, but we're investigating how to get this motor working.

The story goes: The motor on our go-kart has bitten the big one, and in asking the local scroungers to look for a sutable replacement, one mentioned this engine he'd pulled off a burned out bike. He claims it is a '94 suzuki, and we believe it to be a RM 125. The engine is definatly 125cc, electric start and every wire is burned beyond recognition. The carb is missing, but that is the least of problems. We have no idea where some wires go, or where the spark lead comes from.

Also as a curosity point, does anybody know what the rated horsepower is?

If anybody knows of a good internet technical resource, or can recommend any other stockpiles of information, or even vollunteer some brainpower themselves it would be appreciated. Thanks

That is weird that they put an electric start on an RM125, look at the model number on the engine, you should be able to give that to someone, they could look it up and find what kindof engine it is.

Take that to the local shop, and see if they can trace it any way.

Re: Engine troubles Suzuki RM 125

The roommate went to the local place and was told it'd probably be $800 plus in parts. $260 in a carb, $70 for the carb spacer, plus new wireing for the stator, CDI harness, neutral switch, etc... basically every electrical or plastic part on the engine. This is one project that is going in the dumpster...

Thanks anyway all, it was an idea.
