if i crack the throttle it dies....

on my xr200 at like 2/10ths throttle until 4/10ths it would have alot of hesitation and today in the beginning the hesitation was gone. but 5 mins later it was back just less. i was coming home and i was at like full throttle when it died like it had no gas i turned the reserve on but it was the same thing. it idles but with the slightest crack of the throttle it boggs and if i keep giving it throttle it will die and if i let go of the throttle it will idle. im thinking the crap that was in the carb got nocked around enough that it moved on to the main jet . has anyone here had this happen to them. also after it did this i draned the float bowl and it seemed normal and the plug has good spark...plese help me!

take it off and spray it with an air compressor or somethin. Just like cleanin jets, put about 60lbs in there, and just spray it...not that hard.

Re: if i crack the throttle it dies....

I didnt mean that the gap was wrong . .i mean set it to about half what it is supposed to be .. real small. then just run her for a sec just to see .. dont run her long though, cause its not good on the bike or anything if its not necessary.. .

Sounds like the pilot jet is too lean. I had this happen on my bike(bogg off idle) and a larger jet cleaned it up nicely.

As for dying at full throttle with plenty of fuel, check your igniton wires.

Re: if i crack the throttle it dies....

it didnt die it just sounded as if it was out of gas and if i let off the throttle it would idle. its at the shop now and i should have it back by monday. i remember someones bike i think it was a banshee that would die at full throttle but that one stalled and eveything mine bogged and idled.

i had a similair problems a few times it was the plug or the vent tube was clogged but a couple of times it was the petcock itself was partialy plugged and fuel couldn't travel through it fast enough it would be alright until you tried flooring it for any lenght of time
