xr200 not starting when cold?

does anyone else have any problems starting their xr200's when they are cold or when the haven't been running for a couple days? cause it takes me FOREVER to get it started when its cold...I hate it!
and if so then do you have any tips on how to get it started?

Re: xr200 not starting when cold?

My 200 starts first kick even if it hasnt been running for a week. I try to give it a strong first kick and it usually starts right up. If it doesnt then it takes a few more....
I put it on half choke and twist the throttle once just to get a little gas in there. Thats all do to mine...

Re: xr200 not starting when cold?

mine had a problem starting up that last week before my engine went kaput....my valve busted loose....like he said...give it a HARD first kick...and then try holding the kill switch for 3 kicks, and then WAM, kick it real hard on full throttle.

Re: xr200 not starting when cold?

hey josh... your kickstarter doesnt kick back when you kick it and give it gas at the same time? Mine sure does(learned that after the first time I did it) lol I slamed my knee off the handlebars hard enough I couldnt move my leg enough to kick it for the next few days

you could always try push starting it

Re: xr200 not starting when cold?

Is the decomp cable hooked up and working?
I know you can start without it, but it jus works better, with no kick back and you don't breal the KS gears.
Alf.
