fenders/tank
i have a 83 xr200 and the fenders and tank colors have faded and the fenders are in great shape and i know from past experinces you can't just use spray paint. is there any way to paint these fenders and how hard is it to paint the frame.

Re: fenders/tank
I had an 83 xr 200 once. Take the tank, (metal if I recall) to a local auto
painting shop. It won't cost more that $50 probably. Do not paint the fenders. The paint will chip off and it will look worse than it was. Your better off shelling out $20 for a fender "C YA " |
Re: fenders/tank
if your fenders and side panels are not busted up you could try a prouduct called plastic renew. it worked for me.

Re: fenders/tank
There is primer and paint available for plastic but it would cost you almost as much as new fenders, ask at an auto paint supply store. As you mentioned, you would have to strip the bike completely to paint the frame. Use aircraft paint stripper, check all welds and stress areas for cracks, too. I would use epoxy, or better yet, get a paint shop to powder coat it for you, and wait 'till they're spraying something else w/ the color you want so you can get a "batch" price on it.
