Re: how to paint a plastic gas tank

What color is it? If it is white, you can brighten it up a certain amount with soft scrub with bleach. Otherwise, the only way to color it that I know of that works is to take a permanent marker to it. Even that will scrape off, but it stays much better than any rattle can paint does. They make "plastic dye" in a rattle can--it's marketed to cover up faded plastic on interior door panels in cars--but no word on whether it works on bikes.

Basically though, nothing will be permanent. You may find something that will stick to it for a while but everything out there will scratch after a while. Especially being that it's a gas tank, the fumes that leach through the plastic will destroy everything.

Firecracker, I see your profile shows you live in Eastern Washington. I hear it's a little dryer out there than here in the Western half. Any good riding areas out there?

Hell yeah, there is way more riding here. I lived in Kent and then Tacoma for a while but came back here. There are a ton of areas within half an hour of town, and even better ones about 1-2 hours away.

Go to the NMA website www.nmaoffroad.org for trail maps and stuff. They have the big ones--the Little Pend Oreille (Pond O-Ray) area and Batey Bould on there. Other good places are Canfield/Fernan in Coeur d'Alene, Wallace, Mica Peak and Mad River (that's closer to you--over by Lake Wenatchee). Those are just the big areas. I love the riding here. You should head over sometime.

I don't see too many on here. I had just started surfing around looking for places to ride when I found a link to Super Hunky. That led me to this place, and someone sent me to DBC. Oddly enough, someone on DBC was bashing the moderators on DRN, so I had to go and check it out. I pretty much limit my dirt time to DRN and here.
