Welp, Thanks giving day, im switching out the knobbie for a paddle tire, and low and behold, i pinched the tube. I tried patching it 3 times, but it still leaked. I can only hope that today the bike shops are open. THis delays my trip somewhat today, but it will all be worth it when i hit the dunes.
I think ill keep a couple 19" inner tubes with me from now on!
I haven't changed a tire in a long time. I remember the first time I got a flat on my first bike, a Suzuki TS 185, me and a buddy took the back rim off and removed the tire, must have been like 10 times, before we realized the culprit was still inside the tire, couldn't see it from the outside but a small piece of metal barb stuck out on the inside just enough to flatten the tube everytime we put air back into it. We thought we were just pinching the tube. Some things I've read over the years suggest using baby powder and putting a little air into the tube before using the tire irons to put the last side of the tire back on. I haven't personally tried either.
Brian, a TS185? I had a TS100, a TS125, and a DS185 at one time. Lots of fun. T-boned a guy on a bicycle with the 100, messed up the forks a bit. Sold the same bike to the guy years later .
