New to Dirtbiking

Hello,

I am wondering about some size issues here. I THINK I have already decided on the Honda XR250R. (Stree-legal package already installed ). Only thing is (besides the fact I havnt got any money) is it seems VERY tall when I am next to it in the store. I have ridden 1 dirtbike, a small 125, for about five minutes. Thats all. Im quite new to this. I was wondering if I am big enough to ride this thing! Im male, 5'9", 150 lbs. And 16.

This will have enough power.. but too much? How about on the road, will it be fine? Ill be gratefull for any answeres I can get. Thanks,

Oh yes,

I plan on hilly, hardish packed dirt roads riding, and perhaps forests. Also, for regular roads.

Re: New to Dirtbiking

Sit on the bike. As long as you can touch the ground with both feet, your fine. Your size sounds appropriate to me.

Im 5'10.5"@194lbs, and i can touch the ground on my 99 YZ 250, and it looks huge! My girl can touch the foot pegs if i leave the bike on its stand hahahahahhahaha!!!

I think its a great starter bike. After a year or so, you will want more power. It should serve you well for your uses though.

Yea its gonna feel like a moped on the open road. If yuou live in town or back roads it will be ok.. dont hold it wide open down the highway all day though or youll junk the motor.

The most I'll ever hit is 50 mph. Is that ok?

Re: New to Dirtbiking

that bike will probably do 75 tops, so 50 won't be too bad, now my XR200 for instance, is wound out at 50, sad sad story .

Hmm.. what about gear?

What brand of helmet/jersey/pants/boots/gloves should I get?

Fairly cheap would be good. But, I do want quality also.
