Octane Booster

I was mixing some gas for my bike the other day. I selected 91 octane at the pump, and it pumped 87. I already had the oil in the can so i added some octane booster to prevent detonation. I guestimated how much to use, since it said the entire bottle would do 15 gallons.

It ran fine, but id rather just run high octane from the start.

Any comments on using octane booster in 2 strokes?

Re: Octane Booster

from what ive read octane booster isnt the way to go..the only time it is logical for use is if you have a high compression engine you can run on 93 octane but want a little more assuarance without using race fuel..its probably cheaper to use 93 octane too

Re: Octane Booster

YEa stick with pump gas octane. The manafacturers obviously know 99% of us will be buying gas from a station, there built to run on it.

Re: Octane Booster

only use as much as you need

station or race gas 'octane' is better than 'gas fixer upper'

Re: Octane Booster

Yup, I hear ya guys. I hated to use it, but it was inconvienant to dump the fuel out and mix up a new batch.

In the future, i will get the correct octane.

Welp, desert season is over. Time to drain the fuel tank, lube and adjust the chain. Service the air filter.

Have fun all.
