DR 350S Dies

I rode my brothers 1991 DR 350S to try and help him find out why it dies when riding over hard whoops and hard bumps. The local bike shop has been thru the carperator, valves and all the electrical. It feesl like the gas just shuts off when you hit a ditch or whoops section. Any experience this or have any ideas??

Re: DR 350S Dies

On those bikes there is a switch that will kill the bike if you try to put it in gear with the kick stand down... its pretty easy to by pass the switch.........

So what I'm sayin is it could be the kick stand coming down a little bit when you hit bumps...... try either zip tieing the kick stand up or by-passing the switch

Re: DR 350S Dies

He tried the kick stand switch. It only interupts the starting circuit not the running circuit. Once the bike is running it will run with the kick stand down. Thanks anyway for the tip. Any other ideas on what to check?

Re: DR 350S Dies

I'd guess something electrical, just becuase it only does it when it gets rough and something might be shaking loose, or shorting out, but you said the shop went through it. I'll be interested to find out what the cause is, don't forget to share it when you finally find it.

Re: DR 350S Dies

Thats what we thought but you can feather the throttle and most of the time keep it running. Usually full throllte while it is blubbering away then back to idle and you might lkeep it running. It's a crazy one!

Re: DR 350S Dies

a long shot becuase im not familiar with the bike. My bother inlaw's yz400 was dying once in awhile when he was on the gas hard to the right. We finaly noticed the compression realease cable would tighten up and open the realease hence killin the motor. Maybe he is having similar crap

Re: DR 350S Dies

Stil no luck on the DR 350. The compression release was not the problem. Any others????

Re: DR 350S Dies

Man, I thought the kick start switch was good. Don't care what the mechanic said, it sounds like the float.
