125 vs. 250

I am deciding which type of bike to get so i need some help. I am about 6ft 1 and 195lbs. I am a fairly good rider and learn very quickly. I know i will eventually get a 250 but my question is which bike to get. A 125 or go straight to a 250.

Re: 125 vs. 250

250 for sure. You are about the same size as me. Especially if you ride sand. The 125 is more of a peaky motor, that can fall off the powerband, whereas the 250 is a broad powerband.

250's easier to ride than a 125.

i wiegh about the same... i dont care how trick a 125 is ive been on them all and even with the throttle pinned it feels like your heading backwards. Buy the 250, like they said it is actualy way easier to learn on. Just short shift and keep under control for awhile

Re: 125 vs. 250

well I dont know
Ive been thinking about this same question, I been on 125s for the last 3 years and mostly do desert races, trails, basicaly just dinking around. I was thinking a 250 would be better for trails but not sure it would be as fun.
I guees some guys are just 125s guys, ohhhhh I wieght somewhere between 145-50 just depends on the day.

I dont agree with thse guys. I think if you learn and get good on 125 you will be so much better. go trailriding on one and youll have to work it and be good on i too go through miles of switcbacks and hang with the kdxs and 250s and 500s but on long steep hills where you cant get run they will beat you hands down,

its up to you, but if I where your size id go with a 250

Sure it's as long as you really ride, thats all that counts.

because a good rider on a 1982 CR80 will beable to hang with anyone on a tight singltrack trail
