CR 80 jetting

Recently I rebuilt my sons 99 CR80 after the piston exploded. I replaced the stock reeds with carbon fiber reeds and now it's like the Exxon Valdes leaking un-burned fuel all over. The pipe and silencer are stock, The piston is stock size and no other mods have been made. Can anyone help me with a quick jetting tip to eliminate this messy problem? My son is 8 and does not notice any different running charactoristics after the rebuild and he has not been fouling plugs. Any suggestions? I would be thankfull!

Re: CR 80 jetting

when you put reeds in a bike you are supposed to drop a size on the main. depending on the application. carbon fiber reeds are also better for max rpms and the reg fiberglass reeds are more all-around. there should never be any spooge building up. my old yz used to do that. then i learned how to ride. get on the bike and beat the hell out of it. you will prob see this prob go away. if that doesn't fix it then you could of messed up the gasket surfaces and its leaking there?

Re: CR 80 jetting

I run my bikes richer than most, enuogh that I get lite specks of oil on the back of my jersy and fender, Id rather be alittle rich running down sandwas 5th pegged than alittle lean.

I have put reeds in my bike but didnt notice it running richer than normal, the reeds where waste of 50 bucks and gasket

Re: CR 80 jetting

if you are running to rich there your bike is running poorly. the jetting needs to be correct to run properly. you should not be getting oil on the back of your jersey. you either ride like a nancy or your wayyyy too rich.

Re: CR 80 jetting

repacking the silencer is not going to stop spooge build up. the only thing it will do is get rid of existing build-up.
