\'86 XR600 shifting problems

Bike won't shift out of first. At first it would come out if you worked it, but now its getting worse. Any ideas.

Re: \'86 XR600 shifting problems

Did you have to split the case to fix it? I'm sure if I split the case I can fix it, but I want to look at everything else first.

Re: \'86 XR600 shifting problems

Yes, you'll have to split the case if it's the shift forks. Will the bike roll easily when you pull in the clutch?

$70 an hour up here.

When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye.

I dont think the parts are going to be the expensive part.

Get the FACTORY HONDA service manual and study it. If you take it apart very carefully and mark EVERYTHING you should be able to get it back to together.... otherwise taqke all the parts to a shop and ask them nicely to put it back together for ya

sorry it was the shift shaft not fork, the fork you will have to split the case the shaft you just have to pull the clutch cover. it was like 20 for the part
