Race Hummers versus Race Desert Trucks

Hello, I am wondering. I seen the race modified Hummer in a photo on this site. Does the Hummer have a 6.5 L engine under the hood? How are they when they race? I was thinking that the Hummer weighs a bit more so it could be a disadvantage.

Re: Race Hummers versus Race Desert Trucks

The Hummers are generally run stock drivetrain and engine with the available mods in its class (ie, what they can strengthen vs. what they can leave stock). for the most part they are pretty much stock!

We run checkpoints for SCORE and they ALWAYS end up surprising us because they are so bloody quiet when coming in, as opposed to a class 8 truck or any other truck for that matter.

I think that there was at least one Hummer with a propane conversion on it once. I don't remember who drove it.

For some more information, go here:

http://www.rodhall.com/racing/rhi.racing.html.

And here are some rules for that class of vehicle:

http://bitd.com/rulebook/Class8100.html

hope that helps.

rod hall builds hummers with a 502ci gas v-8 and modified suspension. i think they run some baja races.
