Home-made A-arms ?

I am completely displeased with my dunebuggys Vdub front end. Time to make some A-arms!
My only question is where do you get rod-ends that connect the spindle to the A-arm? I've seen people at the dez with a simple 3/4" rod-end top and bottom, but if my math figures right, that will only allow about 12" travel with 24" long A-arms using the most flexible rod-end I could find (26 degrees). I want at least 20". hopefully 24+ of travel. Do they make a ball-joint for this?

Thanx, Corey

Have you thought about King Pins? They seem to be what a lot of the race trucks use.

How does it feel to be beaten by a sewing machine?

Re: Home-made A-arms ?

I was going to use the VW king-pin spindle with a 3/4" rod thru it, maybe 10" long, with the rod-ends on each end. The only set-up I've seen up close are those ones like a Ford I-beam, a hair-pin shaped arm across the front and one straight back. I don't like those, I want regular A shaped A-arms, top and bottom.
I found some rod ends in a catalog that have enough movement (56 degrees) but they're the 2 piece type, and from experience on other stuff they get sloppy real quick.

Does anyone know of a web-site that can give me ideas on a set-up?
