A great place to spectate out of Coco's corner is in Calamjue wash or just
Calamajue was lush and green back in April and should be the same now. It's
the kind of place where the Locos Mocos guys would set a remote pit. Really
a bitchen place that is easy to get to. If it rains though it might be a
muddy bottleneck for the whole race. You can catch the racers coming out of
Calamjue when they get to Highway 1 at El Crucero. You can also get to
Coco's off of Highway 1 at KM229 just south of Laguna Chapala. From Coco's
you can go down the course into Arroyo Calamajue. This is part of the 1995
Baja 1000 course.
All the way down from Puertocitos to Coco's and abit farther, the course is
on super fast roads/ After Coco's you take another fast road to Campo
Calamjue on the bay coast and after about 20 miles (I think) you head down
across the dez to Arroyo Calamajue. This section is relatively fast but has
superb, yet safe jumps.
Also, anyone going down the peninsula should read Bob Bower's poignant words
