SR5 Engine Problem

Hi, I'm new to the forum and also to 4x4 trucks.

I will shortly acquired an '83 Toyota SR5 4 cylinder Long Bed from a close friend who is the original owner. He's taken very good care of it but it has developed a problem or two recently he can't seem to figure out so I'm hoping the forum membes might be able to help me figure out what the problem/s might be??

He said the enging shakes a fair amount, I'll have to pin down when that is, and is lacking power too. I believe he's checked a number of things, sorry I don't have a list of what he's done at the moment, but hasn't corrected the problem.

I'm thinking that possibly the timming chain needs to have the tensioner adjusted, I assumme there is an adjustment on the timing chain or the chain needs to be replaced?

Of course it could be as simple as a leaking vacum advance line if there is one? Or possible a broken motor mount?

I need to look up a breakdown of the Truck and engine parts.

If any of you have experienced similiar things kindly let me know.

Your help is appreciated.

You may want to post this under one of the toyota rooms, you'll get answers there.

Re: SR5 Engine Problem

Say Monkey,
Thanks for the heads-up! I did move the post to Toyota SUV & Trucks.

I'm sure it will get considerably better Exposure there, at least f16 or f22 rather than in this photography section. That's a bit of a pun being a photographer!

Thanks again, Monkey
