New thread/post status

The only thing I would like to see is;
when a post is new to me (I haven't read it before and it is marked "NEW") it would be nice if it would stay new until I read it, not until I log off.
What I mean is, sometimes I will log in and start reading (often at work) then I will have to close my browser for some reason and all the post that were "NEW" that I hadn't read don't say "NEW" anymore. I understand that some posts are skipped, and I may never read these... In this case how about a button for "Mark as Read", that way I could read what I want, not miss anything.... and when I'm done, I click mark as read and the screen is refreshed with all the "NEW" threads gone.
I hope this make sense. If not, go to the bulletin board at http://www.cascadecrawlers.com for an example.

Count one more vote for this idea. I think that this is an outstanding idea.

Another vote for that idea.

I think everyone that checks in both at work and home would love that idea. Sometimes you just can't read all the new posts before you have to log out (Either 'cuz the boss is looking over your shoulder or it's quittin' time). It would be nice to be able to pick up where I left off once I get home

Re: New thread/post status

how about you make the 'new' box clicky and make it so when you click it it brings you to the first new reply to that particuler thread. That way if there is like 30 replys I dont have to scroll threw the old ones to get to the new ones.

Re: New thread/post status

Sounds good to me. Perhaps if it were modified by a cookie based on your username, so that it was consistent for those of us who log on from both work and home, rather than a checkbox. I know I'd be too damn lazy to check a box every time I read a post, and everything would always have a new flag next to it.

I vote for that even though I haven't run into that problem yet, (just can't seem to tear myself away until I catch up on all the latest!)
