User Status Name/Post Ratio - Suggestions Wanted

In the upgrade of the system, I did not want to go with the generic list of names and ratio. so I came up with the following.

posts - title
0 - Poet
10 - Show me the way
50 - Getting clues
100 - Got some clues
150 - Junior Guru
200 - Semi-Guru
400 - Guru
1000 - Dr. Off-Road
1500 - I Live Here

Some folks don't like these. Also, others would like to see one or more higher tiers.

I am open to suggestions. Once we all decide, I can go intot he database and make changes across the user base.

FYI, here are the defaults.

stranger
25 newbie
50 journeyman
100 member
200 enthusiast
400 addict
700 old hand
1200 veteran
1600 Pooh-Bah
2500 Carpal Tunnel

Either ones are fine to me. I would add that 2500 and higher be able to pick their own name.

On the 2500+. We would have to do that manually. The software has no hook to allow subscribers to do this.

That would be fine. Users can track themselves and then you, me, Tim, Doug, Shawn, etc know and we can change it. I shouldn't be our responsibility to track them.

Those look good to me. It wouldn't be a bad idea to add a couple more levels, though. There are a couple of guys on here that have over 5000 posts.

I personally like the old names better. No offense, but the new ones are kinda cheesy.

What about

0 - Newbie
10 - I can change my own oil
50 - Riding shotgun
100 - Spotter
200 - Field Runner
400 - Mud Racer
800 - Rock Crawler
1000 - Trail Leader
1500+ - Choose your own

Re: User Status Name/Post Ratio - Suggestions Wanted

All Locked up, I have more then 1500 posts, and I'm building my rear bumper/tire carrier.

although I do like your suggestions.
Might I suggest adding one for 1500, and then over 2500 choose your own..

Also, I admined a previous version of this software, and when we had it, cusom titles had to be edited in the script itself not through a web GUI.

Have they changed that? or are you guys going to have to break open notepad and do some code slicing every time someone hits 2500?

<font face="Comic Sans MS">Inferno, we can edit titles right through the web GUI... Just type into the little box and *poof* magically changes...

I support the ability of users holding 2500+ posts of being able to choose their own title, provided it's not offensive, etc. Maybe just toss in a few extra tiers below that just to give the people a few more chances to graduate before they are able to choose their own. Not sure though.

I like allockedup's names but space them out more. When you hit 5000 then you get to pic your own name.
