Exclamation WORCS CAL ROUND Change?

FLASH!

This am Sean found out - Problem with DB level county requiring 96 db limit, WORCS having to relocate? Still probably in California, most likely Taft. We were certainly looking forward to checking out Zaca's rolling hills and green grass for a change. Taft is high speed dust and drilling pipes, but cool track too. It's fast - watch out for that one killer tabletop.

Stay tuned!!!

We'll post what we find out here, first.

Wednesday a.m., nothing more known yet. The WORCS site is nearly unusable, I'm sure from people hitting it so much looking for update. Nothing there yet.

It's not that big of a deal. Once you are planning to load up and travel 20 hours, what does it matter where you end up? Date changes are much bigger deal than locale. We just have to scramble last minute on hotels, jetting and set up. But we seem to do that even when we know where it's going to be months ahead of time!

Right?

Update Thursday 6:21 Am

Date: Thu, April 19, 2007 6:21 am

More on Los Olivos WORCS event

As Sean has stated, Zacca Station is doing what they can to commit to there contractual issue to hold these events for both ATV & Bike.

As part of encountering this problem it is our intention to not cancel but instead relocate this event to the nearest location and proximity to Zacca-station. The location we decided to use was Taft, Ca (Honolulu Hills Raceway). After further investigating and deciding which facility would be the best fit, Taft was at the top of the list. Taft is 115 miles from Zacca Station. If this event is moved I have listed some information for our riders and spectators below. Remember- FINAL DECISION (4/23/07) @ 5pm.

Track: Honolulu Hills Raceway (Taft, Ca): ..::Layton Melton Productions::.. : Click on About Us for directions.

Weather:

ATV Weekend- May 11th-13th, 2007: 85 degrees; 0% Precipitation
Bike Weekend- May 18th-20th, 2007: 88 degrees; 0% Precipitation

Hotels:

Holland Inn & Suites: 531 Warren St. Taft, Ca; 93268: Ph# (661) 763-5211
Caprice Motel: 222 Kern St. Taft, Ca; 93268: Ph# (661) 765-2161
Motel 8 Maricopa Inn: 600 Poso St. Maricopa, Ca; 93252: Ph# (661) 769-8291

Airport: Meadows Field- Bakersfield, Ca (BFL) 45 miles from Taft, Ca

If there is any questions that I can help answer, please do not hesitate to send me an email. I am here for support for all our riders and spectators.

In case you didn't see details of the start of the problem, this is what kicked it off 4/19/07:

"Unfortunately WORCS has been put in a very difficult spot. The land owner [of Zaca Station] is under pressure from the residents/land owners that surround his 8,000 acre ranch about sound. He has decided to impose a 96db limit at this point while he investigates the issue further.

He does want to be a good neighbor however he realizes that he has a contractual commitment to WORCS to hold the event. WORCS currently imposes a 99db limit. WORCS does not see the feasibility of meeting the 96 db limit in 3 weeks. This would most likely mean an exhaust change for about 85% of all race bikes and quads. The Zacca Station crew is working as fast as possible to get clearance for the WORCS National events. WORCS does realize the expense that some racers have already incurred from plane ticket purchases and plans.

With this in mind it is our goal to hold the event at a close location so as little inconvenience is caused. This will also limit the number of venues available for us and when you consider the late timing this will reduce that number even further since many already have events on the schedule. Cancelling the event is not a desirable option. We will have a final answer by 5pm Monday April 23.

Zaca Station - It's On

Latest news flash from Sean -

The last couple of weeks have been difficult to work through some issues with Zaca Station. The final word is that as long as each bike passes our current 99db limit then WORCS is welcome to come and race. The issue is with the neighbors and sound that they think they hear from the track. Either way the WORCS rounds will go as scheduled.

ORC note - Since ATVs are racing first, that's great. The bikes will undoubtedly be louder. And there are way more of them. But of any rounds all year, you had better plan on testing and passing sound this round!!

Pepper sent note today to remind all racers that there are no tear offs allowed at Zaca. Track rules also say no dogs, no drinking or smoking, so keep those handled discreetly and everything will be fine. (Dogs on leash, drink or smoke only inside your trailer.)

Please pass the word.

Justin is SMOKIN!

I guess he'll have to tone it down for this round...

Loved the Alligator pix, by the way.
