BITD AVI 150.
Figured I would post this so word gets around. The only thing that sucks is the entry fee. Will it still be about $400? That's a bit-o-cash for a 150 mile race. But 30 mile loops is noce only one pit needed.
Dear Best In The Desert Riders!
First, let me say, I’m excited about the first ever QUAD ONLY RACE promoted by Best In The Desert. This will be a real piece of GOLD added to our 2006 ~“Silver State Series.” Every year, here at Best In The Desert, we are expanding the sport of off-road desert racing, widening our horizons and looking for bigger and better ways to give you, the Quad riders quality events! For the past two years I have been thinking about a US Championship QUAD only event that I believe the QUAD community justly deserves! We have had very successful Motorcycle & Quad ONLY courses and for 2006 we are giving our very loyal QUAD racers their OWN EVENT, the GOLDEN WEST CYCLE AVI "150" and no questions about it, it will be “A ONE OF A KIND QUAD DESERT RACE!” Also for the AVI “150” we will be adding the UTV’s to this event. These UTV’s are very unique vehicles and are compatible with quad desert racing.
I am very sorry but we had to CHANGE THE DATE of the originally published AVI “150” date in September. Because the BLM considers the AVI area “sensitive” the BLM has requested that we move the date into October due to desert tortoise issues. THE NEW DATE FOR THE AVI “150” WILL BE OCTOBER 27, 28, 29, 2006. I hope this does not cause you any undue inconvenience but it is early in the year so hopefully you can make any necessary schedule changes and hotel reservation changes.
Best In The Desert is very proud to have GOLDEN WEST CYCLE as the Title Sponsor of the GOLDEN WEST CYCLE AVI “150”. I think it is very important that all of you racers realize just how important it is to our sport to have industry support like Golden West Cycle/Cycle Parts West. I believe if we want the sport of motorcycle/quad off-road racing to continue and grow we must have the quality sponsorship involvement with companies like Golden West Cycle, who are industry driven.
The AVI “150” is in the Laughlin, Nevada area; the AVI Resort & Casino is a beautiful property and sits right at the edge of the beautiful Colorado River. The racecourse will be on approximately a 30-mile loop with some of the best spectating areas available in off-road racing today!
Because of the expense of promoting events, BLM land use fees, BLM cost recovery fees and the time and energy expended in creating an entirely new course
I AM ASKING FOR YOUR HELP! I need a minimum of 75 quad entries to make this event cost effective. I need to put a deadline on entries for this event before I will be forced to open the event up to the motorcycle community. I will be asking for the entry form deadline to be July 1, and will only be requesting a very small deposit of $50, but this insures your commitment to the AVI “150”. I am asking YOU, the QUAD COMMUNITY to help recruit Quad racers and get the word out that this is going to be a great QUAD ONLY event. You have been wanting to race on your own racecourse for so long this is your chance. So, please get out there and do your best in recruiting new quad racers to race this great QUAD ONLY event, the Avi “150” U.S. Championship Quad Race!
