Question

why is the banshee the only production quad now a days that is a two-stroke

i ride in the sand most of the time and nothing will beat a banshee or a quadzilla they are about even in the sand but why dont they redesign the banshee to have the suspension and handling like the raptor

that is just my opoinon

i am just tried of hearing about this raptor and how fast it is when every one knows that stock for stock with good riders on all three machines a banshee and a lt500r would race for the lead while the raptor eats sand

and i dont want any replys about how the raptor does all these other things so well i am talking about fast, FAST MEANS A STRAIGHT LINE!!!!!!!!!(at least to me)

may my zilla live forever

Re: Question

Banshee isnt th only 2 stroke production quad but is one of the very few. Blaster , scrambler 400, kasea makes one i think.
I totally agree with 2 strokes are not only faster in a straight line they are everywhere.
Why stop making a quad like the 250r thats still dominate racing today?
DOesnt make since
Props to yamaha for having the balls to make the banshee still.

Re: Question

My personal opinion is that the factories think that 2 strokes will be phased out due to smog laws. Here in CA you cant get a green sticker for a 2 stroke after 97 or 98. You get a red sticker, which means that you can only ride certain times of the year. If that is going to happen, why bother putting R and D into something that is going to be dropped.

Dont get me wrong. I have a Banshee and have had to fix things the factory should have.

Re: Question

the reason is is because our government is getting very socialist

The only differnece between riders and animals is we arn't afraid of the vacuum cleaner.

Re: Question

the reason is that is much cheaper to build a 4 stroke than to clean up a 2 stroke using dfi or any other sort of solution. i am a 2 stroke nut myself(check my bio) but i can sense the end is near, maybe not as quickly here in canada, but it is coming. there are ways to make 2 strokes really clean such as using direct fuel injection systems like 'FICHT' systems on evinrudes. but they cost way more to produce than a 4 stroke twice the size

the thing that chaps my A$$ is that 'toys' make up so little of the polution when you look at how many cars and factories there are around the world. especially since most toys (bikes, quads, sleds) only exist in north america.

in university though, we built a snowmobile with a gsxr 600 motor in it for the clean snowmobile challenge in jackson hole this march. and i must say i never thought a 4 stroke sled would be fun to ride but this thing haulled A$$. after motor mods ,to many to list here, the mill actually weighed less than the liquid 440 that was in the sled
i urge you guys to check this out www.ualberta.ca/~uacsc
