ARTIC CAT?

I am about to buy my first utility ATV and really like the Artic Cat 250's. I am concerned about their long term reliability. Can anyone give me a little information? The dealer I am working with is offering one heck of a deal on the 250 4x4--I have heard though that 250cc class bikes don't really have enough power to operate the 4 wheel drive properly, and can bog down in sand or mud. Also, does the fact that the 4 wheel drive is full time increase the chances that the driveline will suffer wear if operated on pavement?---Looking for some general insight--thanks?

Re: ARTIC CAT?

From what I have heard, AC is not a very reliable quad. If you are looking for a 250cc 4x4 I would go for the Suzuki QR 250. You will lack power, so I would recommend jumping up to a 300cc 4x4 for a little extra. I would recommend a King Quad, not only because I have one, but because it is a reliable, and a good 4x4 all around.

Re: ARTIC CAT?

It will put extra wear on the machine being in 4x4 all the time. Have not heard to many good things about the AC.Go check out the Polaris, good reliable and strong machines Good luck

Re: ARTIC CAT?

250 seems a little small. How big are you? The Arctic Cat is probably a fine bike, I looked at them before I bought my Polaris, They didn't offer selectable 4x4. AC has been building engines for quite some time now, they do however seem to be having a hard time selling them in the ATV market. Good luck with your choice. You probably should consider a bigger machine if your dead set on a 4x4.

Re: ARTIC CAT?

Arctic Cat don't build their own engines btw

The AC engines are the exact same as the Suzukis,Suzuki has been suplying Cat with engines since the mid 70s

Engine wise the Cats should be just as reliable as Suzuki, yet drive wise might be a diferent story
