Timing marks

Good day all,

I had to replace the valves in a '92 yamaha Timberwolf and am now trying to set the timing. I have a mark on the gear wheel of the cam (witch I would think pionts at 12 'oclock when setting) while the piston is at TDC. My question is.......how do I know the piston is at TDC?? where is the mark that tells me that? Do I have to take a side cover off to find out? If anyone know's, please fill me in

thanks

Re: Timing marks

Hey bud,
The other mark is on the flywheel. pop off the left cover, and there should be a T and an F on the flywheel .. T is top and F is full advance. .line up the T with the mark on the lip of the cover... and then set the top
