Honda foreman questions

Is the 450 build any better than a 400, what about power? Im going to buy a 2002 model in late july and dont know which one I should get. The guy at the honda dealear said that they discontiuned the 400's but were bringing them back out in 2002. I ride my cousins 350 rancher frequently and I kind of fell it lacks good torquey power. I'll probally use it for a little of everything a fourwheeler can be used for (except racing). So I want something that wont let me down, especially with power. I weigh close to 200 lbs. Also has anybody had any problems with the ES models, is it worth the extra $500?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Honda foreman questions

The 400 is a pure worker, with a somewhat outdated design and suspension. I would go with the 450S...i wouldn't mess with the ES because i enjoy shifting and i figure its just another thing to break.

Re: Honda foreman questions

I'm new to the ATV game. I started riding about 8 months ago. I just traded my Rancher ES 4x2 for a Foreman ES 4x4. I absolutely love it. I like the display you get with the ES model. It tells you how many miles and hours you've been. Also, what gear you're in. Ok, I'm female and those things might not mean much to a guy, but I like it. I also love the fact that I haven't once felt that I was going to get stuck. I never knew the appeal of playing in the mud until I did it myself. I, again , absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone who asked. I don't know anything about the 400 but the 450 Foreman is a good machine.

OK Airborn I'll give ya this "In a strait line a banshee (in the sand) will beat a Raptor, in general play ie. woops, jumping dunes, pulling wheelies, and just F-ing around the Raptor rules"

Re: Honda foreman questions

A few years ago I spent a week on a deer reservation in the making and there was a foreman 400, that is a pure beast. It has PLENTY of power for dragging giganticized logs/trees and has decent top speed (45-50). I drove over a tree that had fallen that was as tall as the fenders, with a bit of rocking.

Re: Honda foreman questions

My bro, (close to 300lbs) rode a 400 foreman and fell in love with it. He was doing everything plus what the owners other 4wheeler (grizzly, doesnt say much but it does have 200 more cc) was doing. My bro was driving like mad! PLaying in the mud and pulled a huge bolder out of its rest play for years, to unleash 2 copper heads! (dont do that)

Give it HELL, and you'll get out.
