Best Wheels?

What is the best rims for a Polaris 400L Sport, i will be purchasing in a couple weeks. And i hear the rims are way to heavy (50 extra pounds) I used to own a 95 Polaris 250 Trailboss, which was a really good quad i hated to part with.
Thanks
Cody

Re: Best Wheels?

i like douglas wheels. i hear good things also about ITP, but i have never owned them. i have a complete set of Douglas red labels on my blaser, and a rear set on my banshee and i love them. they are much lighter than the stock polaris rims. hope this helps.

Re: Best Wheels?

purchasing aftermarket rims, is a big step...some people prefer the stockers and think the stockers will be stronger. ITP or Douglas rims are both very good. I would not get less then a .190 rim however, because the .190 is the strongest rim that is made, the stock rims are approximately .160 if not lighter. The advantage the stock rim has is the rolled lips on the edges...that is what makes them appear to be a stronger wheel.

I have Douglas on my Banshee and I beat the living tar out of it and ride extremely rocky terrain...no bent rims as of yet....

Hope that helps a little bit...

Re: Best Wheels?

I bought ITP Race ring rims, thinking they would be strong. Nope. I hit a rock and smashed the rim all the way into the caliper. Replaced that and got another, a light tag ona arock dented it, but it is still servicable.

I would not spend the dough on them.
