Does anyone know a easy way to put the countershaft in the trans? I think there may be a shim or something that dropped into the case when I slid the old one out. If anyone has a diagram of this shaft could you please send it. I just wish this deal had a sprocket and chain. Thanks in advance.
I believe you are correct in your assumption. Are you talking about the casing that comes out of the motor? If so, my cousin pulled that off too and had to split the motor to put it back together. After calling the Honda shop, they said a lot of people make that same mistake.
Don't worry, you definitely were not the first and definitely won't be the last. My cousin went ahead and replaced the rings while the motor was already apart which will benefit me since I bought it from him.
He ended up taking it to a guy who knew what he was doing. But, I have purchased the Helm manual for this model and it seems decent. I haven't paid much attention to this part of the manual but the book has been pretty informative. It was $37 at www.helm.com and the local Honda shop had the exact copy I did.
