I just put a set of the excavators on my suzuki LT500. There is no comparison to the stockers. They are great in the deep snow and I'm quite certain they will be very good in mud. They have a very aggresive tread pattern thats as deep and well spaced as the Blackwater XT. I don't think they are practical if the majortiy of your riding is smooth trails. Personally I think they are great and really add to the capabilities of the Bike.
Well right now in the snow I can't do jack. Those Excavators look real nice and are reasonably priced. I do alot of riding in all conditions; rock, mud, snow, hard pack, etc. Do you notice any loss of power or speed. I am trying to convince my parents to buy 4 of em so I can ride in the snow.
I do not notice any loss in power. I did not change the tire size. The fronts are 25X8X12 and the rears are 25X10X12 so I went with the exact same size. The power has to stay the same, the only difference is you will go forward alot faster as the tires hook up. Good luck
I ended up paying about 340.00 for the four tires. This is in canadian funds. I have run the bike in about 16 inches of snow and this was up a steep embankment. The tires simply moved the snow southward causing the bike to go forward. They move the snow quickly.
If you want real tire check out what outlaw has to offer go to highlifter.com they are who i bought from they have pictures, prices, and sizes avalible. But of coarse right arter i bought the tires i found a web site that sold them for alot cheaper :-( but i still am very impressed with the out come. 28x10.50 front and 28x12.5 in the rear, this size is not recomended for anything smaller than a 500cc 4x4 but i do think they are making smaller sizes. The traction is unbalivable!!! Later AKMONSTER4X4
If you want a tire with some serious bite then buy a set of superswamper vampires, they have very deep tread and they walk through the deepest mud and snow plus they just came out with another one but it has like 3" deep rubber were as the regular vampire tire has like a 1 1/2 deep tread. Another great tire is the bear claw but its not as strong or agressive...
