MX Racing

Who in here races MX? I am fixing to start, gotta finish up getting my quad ready. already got my kill switch and my nerf bars on it. its a '88 Suzuki Quadracer, punched .080 over with Wiseco pistons, rearend rebuilt, 13/41 gearing and 21x7x10 front tires and 22x12x10 rear tires.

what i am wondering is what size front and rear tires do you use for MX? what gearing? i am thinking with going to a 18x9.5x8 ITP Holeshot rear tire on Douglas .190 8x8 aluminum rims, will this work? i was thinking this mainly because thats what most of the riders in the 2 stroke atv class was riding on this past weekend when i watched them race. do i need to change my gearing or is it fine? i have rode the MX tracks alot and have tons of atv experience, but this is going to be my first official race. can anyone offer me any advice? thanks a bunch.

Re: MX Racing

well, I run atv races and I am 33...I have 10 wheels on the rear with holeshots...the fronts are stock rims with shredders...
I have stock gearing with ported and polished motor and I am putting new exhaust on this year...

of the 5 races last year in old mans class I came in 2nd and 3rd...and I dont run nerf bars on mine....and as far as the MX racing and why I did not do to well was its the first year back on a ride since fighting with a tree...this year I dont expect to finish less then 1st...

I had plenty to keep up and then some...but I just would get spooked at certian spots in the track...I am gettin over that quickly...

Re: MX Racing

Airborn,

thanks for the reply, i thought my gearing would be ok, but i wasnt sure about the tire size. you didnt mention what type of quad you ride? what kind of exhaust are you going to go with? i have been looking at the Big Gun Exhaust, it looks pretty good, but i dont think they make one for my quad. thanks again.

Re: MX Racing

I run a 94 banshee and am in process of putting FMF SST pipes on it.

It had dyno 2-->1 pipes and they are the biggest POS I have seen...

I am looking forward to this year....
